O Oscar, a maior premiação da indústria do cinema, comemora o seu 90º aniversário este domingo, noite em que se realiza mais uma gala.

Foi em 1929, a 16 de maio, que se realizou a primeira cerimónia no Hotel Roosevelt de Hollywood, apresentada pelo ator Douglas Fairbanks Sr.

Só em 1953, o Oscar passou a ser televisionado e, em 1969, dá-se o único empate da história na categoria de melhor atriz: Katharine Hepburn por “O Leão no Inverno” e Barbra Streisand por “Funny Girl – Uma Garota Genial”.

Entre os filmes mais premiados, com 11 prémios, estão “O Senhor dos Anéis: O Retorno do Rei” (2003), “Titanic” (1997) e “Ben-Hur” (1959).

Esta noite, a cerimónia terá lugar no Dolby Theater, em Los Angeles, e será apresentada por Jimmy Kimmel.
