A 59.ª cerimônia anual dos Grammy Awards decorreu no Staples Center em Los Angeles.[

James Corden estreou-se como anfitrião da cerimónia que distinguiu as melhores gravações, composições e artistas do ano.

Adele foi a grande vencedora arrecadando as três principais categorias da noite: melhor música e gravação, com "Hello", e álbum do ano, com "25".

A cantora inglesa abriu a cerimónia com a música premiada e em tributo a George Michael, cantou "Fast love". 

David Bowie, que morreu em janeiro de 2016, foi distinguido a título póstumo com quatro prémios de música Grammy: melhor atuação rock, melhor álbum de música alternativa, melhor design de capa de disco (partilhado com o diretor artístico Jonathan Barnbrook) e melhor álbum de música clássica (em conjunto com Tom Elmhirst, Kevin Killen, Tony Visconti e Joe LaPorta), todos pelo seu último disco, "Blackstar".
