O afastamento é definitivo. Harry e Meghan anunciaram nesta quarta-feira, dia 8 de janeiro, que deixarão de ser "membros séniores da realeza britânica".

Numa declaração publicada na sua página de instagram, os duques de Sussex explicam a decisão, tomada depois de "muitos meses de relexão" e anunciam ainda que dividirão o seu tempo entre o Reino Unido e a América do Norte.

O casal evidencia que quer trabalhar para tornar-se "financeiramente independente" e "construir gradualmente um novo papel dentro desta instituição" reafirmando o seu apoio total a sua majestade, a rainha.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
